This was my first playthrough for SHoC. I saw LURK before AA2 but I liked AA2 a lot more. Both for gameplay features and graphic style.
To be honest, I don't care which one is the better mod. I care about which one I like better. I don't think this mod adds randomly countless spawns. It adds some mutants in the labs but that's it ( Burers and Zombies ). What I meant with the 'game is hard' part in the title is, that the game was easy for 15 hours and then in the last hour they make you fight a huge amount of enemies and put you in shitty situations ( See when you get inside the secret lab. Around 15-20 soldiers shooting you from 3 different directions ). Playing this part for the first time can be challenging no matter what mod you are using.

Hell, I would rage quit this part in the vanilla game. Thanks to its terrible hit detection I would start to whine instantly.
And yeah, I know there are mods that have custom stories etc etc but first I wanted to play SHoC's vanilla story. Now I downloaded Secret Trails 2 + AA2 and I'm going to start with recording and stuff pretty soon. In any case, I liked AA2 a lot more than LURK. This doesn't make AA2 the better mod though. I just liked more AA2's features. IMHO that makes the mod good, not easy. I mean, if you are a decent aimer you'll have easier time.
And that's pretty standard. In every game a headshot should be a kill. There's one thing in Stalker that might affect your aim though. The fear of getting attacked by mutants out of nowhere.
At least it works like this for me. The 'hard' part in the final hour of the game is that you have loads of enemies shooting at you from different spots and you don't have a lot of space to work with. Also, it's a little bit harder for me because 1) I have to be a little faster while recording. I have to overextend myself a little bit. It can't take me an hour to beat a level like this. It would be boring to watch.
2) I have to talk during the whole thing. That's something extra you have to focus on. To addition to that, I'm italian trying to speak english. Even more focus on the commentary. But yeah, I get what you mean. Oh, Controllers, Burares and Bloodsuckers don't die with one headshot. Basically the biggest threat in the game is also stronger.
